On Sunday 23rd July, it was a great delight for the church to enrol Tonderai ‘Tom’ Tomu as a senior soldier here at Histon. Tom first started attending the church after moving from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe to join his mother, Miriam here at Histon.

Tom is a promising athlete having represented the Zimbabwe National Youth Team.
Tom has entered into the corps life in particular learning to play the tenor horn under the guidance of Bandmaster Robert Carmichael.

The enrolment was a very special and moving occasion for everyone present. Tom’s mother, Miriam, sang ‘There is power’ and presented him a Bible in memory of his father. After which the Singing Company joined with Tom as he gave his testimony by singing the song, ‘Over all the earth.’.
