On Sunday 20th May, the church held an Appreciation Service to thank all our Charity Shop volunteers for the support that they give to The Salvation Army. It was a great delight to have 25 of the volunteers present for the service which featured the difference the shop makes to the community and the work that is supported by the financial resources that are raised. During the service, volunteers also shared what it meant to them to work in the shop. As a small gesture of appreciation the volunteers were given a plant for their support and Julie Carmichael spoke on behalf of the church members to thank the volunteers. After the service, the volunteers joined with members of the church to share in a lunch together. It was also a time to recognize and thank Russell Larham as he stepped down from being Shop Manager. Russell has done a tremendous job in serving in the shop both as Assitant Manager and Manager. Thanks were expressed and gifts presented to Russell for his commitment and support in helping make the shop such a success. Russell expressed what a delight it had been working in the shop and thanked the volunteers for their support. We are pleased to say that Russell is still to help in the shop as a volunteer. It was also an opportunity to welcome the new management team of Shop Manager, Flory Ringer, and Assistant Manager, Fonz Chamberlain. As a church we are indebted to the work of the volunteers who serve in our Care and Share Charity Shop. Through the commitment and time that they give each week the Shop has become an established part of the life of our community and is a meeting place for many people as well as raising vital financial resources for The Salvation Army.
