At the Carol Service, the nominated charity was the ‘Friends of Chernobyl’s Children’ which was set up to provide care for the children who have been affected by the Chernobyl Disaster of 1986. It was a moving occasion as Vic Spinner (pictured with Captain Paul) spoke of the charity’s work and a tremendous amount of £822.26 was raised! Included below is an extract from a letter received from Charity’s Coordinator in Melbourn, Nicola Dunkin: “I am quite overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity shown by you and your congregation at Histon Salvation Army. I am sure you are aware of how valuable this money will be in helping the children of Belarus. Please do pass on our sincere thanks to all those people involved in the fund-raising. You clearly have some special people in your congregation, without whom we couldn't do the vital work that we do. Your kindness and interest are appreciated very much.
