SUNSHINE CLUB OUTING TO FELIXSTOWE OVER SIXTIES RALLY |

By Betty Burrows (Sunshine Club Leader) There was great excitement again this year as the Sunshine Club went to the Over Sixties Rally at Felixstowe. Everyone was anticipating a great day out even if the weather was a bit grey and dismal! As we boarded the coach there were greetings and much laughter shared with our friends from The Salvation Army Chatteris Friendship Club. It certainly didn’t seem that a year had passed. The journey was smooth and uneventful and we arrived at the Spa Theatre in Felixstowe in time to enjoy coffee and a leisurely lunch. The Rally was hosted by Majors Derek and Kath Dolling and one of their friends who sang some lovely old songs to get everyone in the mood to remember that it was 60 years since V E Day. The Anglia Golden Oldies Band played some rousing music and soon everyone was waving Union Jack flags and singing songs like ‘Rule Britannia’ and ‘There’ll always be an England’. This year it was good to welcome friends from the church, Home League and Histon Day Centre and we hope that they enjoyed their day with us. If anyone would like to join us at Sunshine Club on Monday afternoons at 2:15pm, they will be most welcome.
